The MTCA Festival celebrates Musical Theatre while empowering, educating, and elevating student performers, onstage and beyond.
Inspiring. Authentic. Educational.
Students kick off the weekend learning audition tips from the MTCA Creative Team, followed by learning a high-energy combo and a live audition in front of industry professionals.
It’s a supportive, real-world experience— select students from each group are cast in The MTCA Finale Performance.
Ensemble Feedback. Professional Coaching. Artistic Growtth.
Groups perform in the Musical Production, Medley, or Showtune categories and receive written feedback & scores from industry adjudicators. Each group also takes part in an performance workshop with the MTCA Creative Team, an unforgettable opportunity to grow together as artists.

MTCA offers categories in Solo, Duet, Monologue, Musical Theatre Dance, Set Design, Makeup and Hair Design, and Costume Design categories, giving students multiple opportunities to refine their skills. Each entry receives written feedback and scores, plus the opportunity to participate in a performance or design workshop with professional adjudicators. Awards are presented in every category and age division, celebrating growth, storytelling, and excellence.

MTCA offers two powerful chances to engage with Broadway professionals: The MTCA Broadway Panel, where the MTCA Team shares their path to Broadway and a Broadway Talkback with featured guest stars. These Q&A sessions invite real questions, honest answers, and genuine connection with those living the Broadway dream.
Train with Broadway and Industry Professionals.
Students work with Broadway performers, choreographers, and casting professionals in high-energy sessions that focused on voice, dance, acting, and audition technique. It’s an inspiring chance to grow, connect, and
elevate their training.
Step into the Spotlight with Broadway Stars.
Leading up to the festival, students are guided through the process of preparing and submitting self-tape auditions just like professionals. From these submissions, selected performers are cast in the MTCA Finale alongside our Direct from Broadway guest artists. It’s a powerful opportunity to grow as an artist, work with our creative team, and share the stage in one of the festival’s most unforgettable moments.

College and Conservatory Programs.
The first event of the festival, "The Next Step: MTCA College Panel and Fair," offers an inspiring launch to the weekend. It gives high school students and parents a chance to explore opportunities after graduation and gain invaluable guidance from leading performing-arts colleges and conservatories. You’ll learn how to navigate your next steps in pursuing your passion for the arts—and connect directly with college representatives to shape your academic future.

A festival highlight the Technical Theatre Olympics invites every student to participate in exciting tech-based games that showcase the skills and creativity required to bring a show to life. Awards will be presented in several categories.
A Saturday Night Celebration for Students and Directors.
After the MTCA Finale, students take over the dance floor at our high-energy Dance Party. Meanwhile, directors are invited to connect, collaborate, and celebrate the weekend at the Directors Mixer with the MTCA team.
Celebrating Teamwork, Talent, and Storytelling
Held at the Walter Knott Theater, the MTCA Awards Ceremony honors standout performances and unforgettable moments. Afterward, students enjoy included entry to Knott’s Berry Farm.

Brought to you by the producers of MTCA, the MTC Triple Threat Competition brings performers together to compete in singing, acting, and dancing, whether in one, two, or all three disciplines. Judged on technique, performance, and creativity, they receive LIVE feedback from expert adjudicators, driving real-time growth and development.

We are thrilled to announce the "Next Step: The MTCA College Panel & Fair" is back for 2025! It was a tremendous success last year and provided crucial guidance and inspiration to the hundreds of aspiring musical theatre students that attended.
MTCA College Panel & Fair will be February 6th, 2025 at the MTCA 2025 Festival. High School Students must sign-up/register with link.
