Scoring

1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place will be awarded in each category.

Each entry score is based on a maximum of 100 points.

For schools that choose not to be ranked, we offer a “comments only” option. The adjudicators will provide written comments about the performance and an onstage clinic, but the adjudication sheets will not reflect any numerical scoring.

SWEEPSTAKES Awards

Schools participating in the sweepstakes competition must enter a minimum of three (3) averaged categories. One of the required categories must be either the Ensemble or Musical Revue category. The other two entries must be from any other two categories.

For Sweepstakes scoring, MTCA will use a school's top three scores. Each Ensemble, Solo, Duet, and Musical Revue entry's score will be averaged.

Example: ABC School entered the following and scored:

Ensemble – average score of 92
Musical Revue – average score of 89
Solo – average score of 75
Set Design – score of 93
The top three scores (92+89+93) would be added together for a total score of 274.

OUTSTANDING MALE AND FEMALE VOCALIST & OUTSTANDING MALE AND FEMALE DANCER

During the Ensemble and Musical Revue competitions, adjudicators will choose performers deserving of these individual awards. At the end of the competition, judges will convene to choose one performer for each award in both the High School and Junior High/Middle School Ensemble and Musical Revue categories.
